The 2014 Branco Adventura is an unoaked, old-vines field blend (30 years in age, sourced from the Portalegre region with Viosinho as the main grape). Exuberant in its youth, this shows good concentration underneath, fine acidity and freshness consistent with the vintage. In a difficult, rain-plagued vintage, this is lovely, with fresh flavors and a crisp feel. This may not have quite as much concentration as its 2013 counterpart reviewed this issue, but it compensates with its very fresh and more expressive feel. The price is good in the USA; in Europe, it is a mere 10 Euros, by the way. It's a very nice bargain in a rather serious white that should exceed expectations. There were 4,800 bottles produced.
After fifteen years working as a winemaker I decided to embrace the ADVENTURE to become a wine producer. A fascinating ADVENTURE and challenge that I intend to live as pleasurably as possible. I just hope you'll have as much fun as I did making them.
